Before I begin: Happy Valentine’s Day!
M’kay, so as usual, I will make a little note:
NOTE: This report is based off reactions from forumites in the AEF community.
Sorry for the little delay, I was caught up in Valentine’s Day celebrations and didn’t have time to write this on the release day, but nevertheless… here it is. Gah, I have to read over the 10 pages of the release thread first… so much reading…
I suppose the most discussed topic about this release was the Love Hat. It’s the one that looks like an archer/ranger/Robin-Hood-esque hat with a feather sticking out of it. Also known as “Big Daddy’s Hat”. Hotly discussed amongst the forumites as to its apparently very low drop rate and speculation as to whether it drops at all. A few anecdotes here and there… farming times etc.
The enormous amount of pink items is always one to stir a reaction from the AEF community. Whether players jokingly embrace the widespread use or condemn the excessive application of the colour, there are always players talking about “Bring in more pink! We support Beleen!” or “Grr, I hate pink. Stop bringing it in”. While on the topic of pink… The hype for last year’s Valentine items hasn’t died down, with happy players posting on almost every page about buying their pink starsword or Ex’s Caliber – AE’s more “old school” items just don’t lose their appeal on players.
Another area I thought I’d bring to attention that indirectly ties into the AEF reaction is the implementation of the royal reversal garb. If any of you follow Cysero on Twitter, you would have noticed the long pages of Tweets when players (both female and male) learnt that the very sophisticated suit would be for males only, with the females getting the pastel pink, blue and purple dress. Being the generous group AE is, they added the reversal garb by request, and that is shown in the AEF where players commend AE for allowing such an otherwise impossible thing to occur. Artix wasn’t lying when he said in that interview that the players “make” AQW the way it is :)
Since having the new chibi tiger pets added in, players have praised the new non-mem, AC tiger pet. Non-members are naturally enthusiastic to be able to buy their own pet to battle with (at a very affordable price of 300 AC) and members don’t get left out of the loop – they have their very own regular chibi tiger pet. I quite like the tigers; they remind me of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Admit it: they look like the revamped version in Tim Burton’s adaptation.
