| Subject: AQW AEF Reaction - Friday Release (22/01/10) Sat Jan 23, 2010 2:05 am | |
| First topic message reminder :
This week’s release rolled with the O-dokuro battle unlocked for the non-members as well as the beginning of the Yokai war for all players. Some new reputation shop items have been released (Get a sushi helm – now 10% more nom-worthy) as well as a rare, limited time, chaotic styled house - the first of its kind with a “built in” shopkeeper who doesn’t seem to have an opinion on free labor.
NOTE: This report is based off reactions from forumites in the AEF community.
Surprisingly, the reaction in the AEF was more focused on the war rather than the new house – which is unusual, considering many players tend to enjoy discussing the rarity of AQW’s items. Judging by the reaction of those who have discussed this new house, the general feedback is very positive as players embrace the design, style and “epicness” of the house. The AC price-tag may have deterred a few from making the purchase but everyone agrees that the house is a very nice piece of art.
On the other side of the spectrum, it’s not surprising that many players do not hold much enthusiasm for the Yokai war. The most reoccurring opinion is that wars are “repetitive”, “long” and “like last time”. The lack of new war goodies and the item bug (which prevents drops from being saved… even all the way in Noobshire. Yes, I checked) has added an extra damper to the war mood. However, the number of medals required to shift the war meter has dropped considerably – from 100k to 20k for 1%, according to Jprebs- easing some of the tension. The overwhelming response still remains quite negative, with many players opting to give up or wait for the war to end before participating. We need everyone to pitch in, it’s not like we’re going to die permanently in the war.
As for the O-dokuro, it seems this chaos beast is becoming quite controversial in the AEF. Many players are mistaking him for the war boss and believe he is dropping the house. Understandable, considering the house is based off his skull. In any case, he doesn’t drop it so that’s why everyone needs to help fight the war. Okay, it seems like the O-dokuro is dropping the house now? Speculations on the forums confuzzle me. Seriously, some people really, really confuse me. My initial guess was correct.
The sushi helms don’t seem to be a very popular choice in the AEF either, and there is little to no mention of the wings, weapons or new gear. Hm, seems the war release has done things to the forums. Weapon gushing is a must! ... usually.
Until next week, keep fighting the Yokai war!
UPDATE: As I posted this, Reen's just Tweeted to say that the drops glitch is being fixed.

| @ 1234567889: You got it as a drop? Okay, that seems more like a glitch.
I agree, Velvex. I forked out the money for it, I wish that this is a bug or something because there was no mention anywhere that the AC version would be dropped.

| Mhmm, and not only could you get the house while farming for it, but you could get tons of REP, so the farming would be useful for two things, making the use of real money for the house even more pointless . . . | |

| Yeah, the Design Notes have been updated with details about that... Brief, but confirmation of the war boss dropping the house. I'm glad I won't need to farm for it since I bought the AC version (I really dislike extensive farming sessions, Bunny Bezerker was a chore in itself, hehe).
Anyway, some good releases will be coming out this week with all the new housing stuff and Quibble's return... though I can almost already imagine the reaction on the AEF. It's almost the same each time Quibble comes around. Ah, looking forward to the release already =D
/me needs more house slots

| You should. You'll regret not doing it eventually =P Actually... you should hold on till this week's release. Maybe you'll like some of Quibble's items and since his items are always AC, you won't even be using up bank space.
Gah, I've already maxed out but I still want/need more space. Too bad Cysero confirmed on Facebook that the maximum bag slots and bank slots have been reached.

| Yeah, I also need more bank space. I wonder if they could do something like a Swordhaven bank and a Battleon Bank, where you would have to go to the different cities to reach the bank? I mean I know they can't add anything on to the bank at the moment, but what if they make a whole new bank. | |

| Hmm, I think they mentioned once that banks in different towns would be a feature implemented later on. Not sure if AE remembers that anymore. Speaking of remembering things, I wonder what happened to that guy charging up his soul nuke in Dragonkoi? xD | |

| ... :O Now that is a conspiracy! Really, it can be a possibility since he hasn't been discussed... at all... maybe he's a secret weapon? Whatever happened to us heroes doing all the LoC killing? Oooh. Interesting 8D | |

| Mhmm, I honestly will get really tired of it if we are the only ones who kill the LoCs | |

| In AQW, I suppose our characters got exasperated. In reality, the soul nuke may have been a part of the storyline that was forgotten so it had to be dealt with swiftly. | |
